Yes, the Arabian market in California has suffered  from far too much
emphasis on "stretchy necks", "hooky necks", "trotty",  "table-top flat",
etc. The result is a huge overproduction of horses designed to
do....nothing
in particular. Sad to say, we saw all of this happen - whilst our own 8"
bone, 15 hand, solidly built, quiet demeanored stallion tried his hoof  at
about every sport around, and did quite well, But with an emphasis on  fed
and not function, not only is it tough for a stallion to find suitable
mares,
but it is getting harder to find good athletic ARABIANS

I guess you would be much surprised then that there is a huge group of
Arabians you are over looking then. The CMK Arabian has been the Sport Horse
of Arabians from day one. They were bred to be "beautiful riding horses"
never show horses. The ranch that Benjih+ came from is a place to go to for
quality athletic Arabians in California, of course that is just one ranch
among many. CMK Arabians make up a huge % of endurance horses as well as
cutting, working cow horses, jumper and Dressage. Almost everyone knows Heidi
on this list as "ask the vet, Heidi" but you should see some of the fabulous
horses she breeds in Idaho.  We are here in Texas and there are a great
number of CMK breeders here who bred only athletic horses. Too many people
are "looking" in the show ring for horses to buy. There is a huge % of
breeders who never set foot inside a showring, we are too busy "doing" stuff
with our horses to attend the latest fashion shows.
