Barefootin' at the Races

Whew!!! Have we been busy... Just wanted to give everyone a progress report on Barefootin' in Endurance.  We have all but two of 42 horses on the place now barefoot.  All but about 10 of them have received the Natural Trim... (I'm getting there).  With Mark's rotary cuff surgery in Nov. I'm the only one on the ranch trimming right now... and I'm a bit slow, but meticulous.
We took 15 horses at Hi Roller Dec. 30.  Had several in the top ten & the only two pulls were not foot related.

January 13-14 we took 15 horses to Heart of Texas ride.  (Uh-oh) Still had one shod one in there.  Only one pull out of the bunch... again not foot related.   While riding "Jedi" aka  DJB Bronze Star on Sunday, I tied for first with Connie Caudill and Vickie Hudson on DJB Jebel Darshan .   Interesting note... both Jedi & Darshan had done 50 miles two weeks before.  Granted the ground is soft & muddy most everywhere right now, but I can tell the horses feet are getting tuffer & tuffer.

I learned so much during and after the clinic with Martha Olivo (she was in the area thru Christmas), that I'm embarrassed when I look at the feet of the horses I did before I observed a "real trimmer".   Due to an incredible interest down in South Texas we have scheduled another clinic in April.  E me privately for more details.

During the clinic we trimmed foundered horses and a couple of "really bad" club feet.  The worst one was conditioned gradually over the next 10 days and ran one of its best 50 mile races ever.  I tell ya, its scary when you bring those club feet down... but it WORKS!!!!

Please, don't want to start a huge thread battling this out... just go to the web pages &/or read the books featured on them.  Look at it with an open mind and see if its for you and your horse.  I've got some really happy horses here.
