mares or geldings

Tara,  what does well in endurance depends on the horse.  I have owned 2 mares who have done great.  The only problem with mares is that they PMS like you and I do. My 2 geldings were good ones too.  But my last gelding was extremely hot so I had that to deal with!  I could hop back and forth between endurance and competitive with all 4 of my horses though the hot gelding would rear at surprise vet checks and try to take off in a dead run when I would attempt to get on.  As for white feet, dark usually are the best but there is always the exception. My mare now is gray and I fight scratches constantly.  Otomax, the ear medicine for dogs, works wonders..  If you have a good athletic, you just learn to deal with whatever problems that that particular horse has.  No horse is perfect.  Jeanie
