RE: Anyone tried Zilco stirrup leathers?

I have Zilco stirrup leathers and had one problem in that the
buckle made the leathers crack where it was buckled. But the
distributor replaced them free of charge and admitted that
they had a bad streak with a certain buckle and that they
were are now using roller buckles.

They are working out fine, the holes don't seem to pull,
they are about as thick as the standard leathers (like Stubben
or Courbette) but are more abrasive than standard leathers.
I'm not 100% sure that I would buy them again for stirrup
leathers because of this, but they will probably end up
being more durable. Time will tell. Also, you have
to be careful not to use any petroleum products on it, so
I'm wondering about chemical reaction between whatever saddle
preparation you are using and the zilco.

I have leather stirrup leathers that I've had for 5 years and
have done lots of trail riding with them and they are still strong.
They were just the wrong color for my RP!

I'm hunting for the strongest, thinnest leathers on the market. I'm
curious as to whether the holes pull at all and how thick the straps
are. I'd like to hear opinions on Zilco, or any other product in this
category that you have a strong opinion about (either way).

Thanks in advance, Lisa
