optimum time

The optimum time award given at the OD this year was for the LD ride.  The OD does not place the horses or give a BC.  So this was a way to give an award.  Someone rides the course a day or so before the ride and that person's time is the optimum time.  It is not published.  No one knows the time so it is not something you can shoot for.  You either hit  it or you don't.  Also the time would change from year to year as a different rider and horse would ride the course differently or the weather conditions can be different.    Not sure how you can make it work for endurance rides, or that it would work at all as the way it is done is random.   Louise
