Absolutely Lif, And with so many new to horses people, not horsemen, that attitude  is on the rise.

Seems to me that there's the problem in a nutshell.  Doesn't matter what
her horse knowledge is, or what her endurance experience is.  Horse as
disposable machine:  This causes more problems than anything else.
