As soon as one puts a minimum time on a ride you get a "competitive Trail
Ride".  Look up the UMECRA rules for competitive rides.  You will find
essentially an LD, with the winner judged on horse condition.  A much better
way to start distance riding.  Note that in UMECRA horsemanship and
artificial trail obstacles are not part of the judging.

Then the RM can also offer an LD for those who want to go short and fast.

By the way, our ride does not offer a BC for the LD because the vet feels
she can't tell enough about the horses condition with that short a ride and
therefore the heaviest rider would always win.

We do give placings and this year we will give separate junior placings.
