Re: THUMPS

What is the horse's ration at home? The few days before the ride? During
the ride? Are the commercial e'lytes an endurance formula, and how often is
'every time she drinks?' And how much is a half dose?

I respectfully disagree with the ride vet saying it's not a problem. The
horse may survive the day, but a) current vet check parameters are not good
and accurate indicators of the horse's true hydration and metabolic status,
and b) thumps don't happen unless you have a significant imbalance in
onboard electrolytes. Imbalances affect hydration status and that in turn
affects every organ system in the body. Don't underestimate this.

Let's have more details and solve this problem. Let's do it publicly so
someone else can get something out of it, too---that's the point of
ridecamp, eh?
