Re: ridecamp-d Digest V01 #682

This comes a little late...computer has been down for a few
days.
Western saddles also are not supposed to have the tree on
the shoulder blade....the bars should always be placed
behind the shoulder just as the tree in the english saddle.
I make western and endurance saddles and see more saddles
placed incorrectly then correct....pain from tree pressure
hurts the same regardless which type of tree it is. Many
people don't know this so they are not careful to choose a
saddle with the skirts short enough for their horses backs.
When custom making a saddle I keep the skirt shorter then
the distance between shoulder blade and hip.
