Horse fair whut a day!

carla lawson robcarla@bellsouth.net
Well Robert, Ansata, Haley and Myself have managed to recoop from our Horse Fair and we had a
busy day! yeah it was nearly 3 weeks ago, but I just now got all the Thank you cards out for those who
came by and helped out.
Charles Hall our Farrier did an outstanding job on the cutest little 22 year old foundered mini. Yeah
we had to squat to do it but she is feeling much better. The owner could hardly believe all the hoof he
took off. The sad news was our Cushings Disease mare was so far off there was nothing he could do.
Her bone has actually fused together. The owner was pretty distraught but with the vet and farrier there
it was decided she had about 2 good years left. We pray for a miracle.. it may never happen but we can
hope. So he ended up using Haley as a demo... and a butt head of a demo she was. The varmit even tried to
make hamburger out of my hand so a slap on the snout she recieved.
Our Breeds parade turned out to be a breeds and stallions at the same time. We had a Hungarian,
a Sport horse stallion HE WAS NICE!!!! four Quarter horses stallions a three were foundation bred
a nice saddle mare, two appaloosas one blanket and one lepoard, one anglo arab in native costume and our
two mares. It was fun.
The vendors gave me a good chewing out.. I didn't have them located very well and they didn't realize
that we were trying to make everything comfortable for them by providing electricity and a comfortable
place for them to set up on a nice concrete floor in a metal building that was opened up nice and breezy
for them. (I tried!) The traffic was not high enough for them.. but in one report two potential consumers
went to ask about some products and the vendors were too busy talking to one another to answer questions
Don Pollock was sweet to come down and see what the hoolabaloo was about. Gave me some great pointers
for next year. I saw him talking to my G's from Huntsville..He even talked to Robert and said the magic
words "I am from Ridecamp" and Robert gave the knowing smile.
Kentucky Quarter Horse Youth Assoc. showed up and showed us how to set up for judgeing.. I all ways
miss the good stuff!!
Dr Woodall did a demo for basic first aid. I missed this.. but I felt it was a good idea to get someone
to do a demo for this.. you never know what you can do to help your horse till the vet arrives!
lots of demos from equine nutrition to saddling.. the 4-H demos were fun to watch....and critic!!
We had a great Reining demo from Mary Fields out of Auburn Ky. She was very educated!! Smart young lady.
Really explained reining and the whole ordeal!! and It is an ORDEAL!!! whew..I can really appreciate
that sport! Has me wanting to learn. Sandra Placco gave a great Horsemanship clinic. I am going to start my
riding lessons in about 1 more week from her. I am trying to get some better comunication with Ansata.
We had a great time! Met a lot of people and I was tickled pink that someone from RC showed up!!!
next year will be a little bigger and a LOT better Who knows maybe I can get someone from AERC to
show up. Maybe I will ride from about 5 miles away and do a vet in demo!! I had a wonderful time
setting all this up. I really appreciate the ideas that was sent my emailed way from RC'ers!!
maybe with all this pre-quel training eventually I can actually help manage a *gasp* endurance ride..or
help man an AERC booth!! hey I might even write a book....perhaps two books a fiction..with the help
Howard. I can do a great endurance book titled "All I really needed to know about endurance I learned
on Ridecamp" or "Endurance.....get back to nature..just don't squat near the poison ivy!"
You missed a great time!!
Carla (ahh what the future holds!)
Ansata (Um haley... your boyfriend there is gelded!)
Haley (oh?? well then look at it as safe sex)
Rob (my poor mare is sooo confused!)
PS.. Haley fell in love my my G's gelding!! ohh boy!!!
