Forget standards, how 'bout 3 speed on the column?

I learned to drive on a 1965 Ford Falcon, 3  on the tree is what I think
we called it.  I wonder how many of you out there even know that one?

For years all I had were standards, including the tractors we drove on
my grandparent's cotton farm.

But this is one woman who gladly gives up a little power to NOT have to
shift!  A badly torn up shoulder and crushed chest in a car wreck makes
constant shifting painful.  I can still do that 3 on the tree thang
mentally like it was yesterday!
