Hi Ridecamp; I have embarked (again) in that self mutilating journey called "selling a horse".

"How much does she weigh?"   (this one really perplexed me..who cares what she weighs?)

Reason I have asked that question in the past is to determine if the horse has been starved to death, is overly fat, or in good flesh.  We once found a horse that sounded so perfect over the phone that I hauled a trailer 3 hours to look at and probably buy and haul horse home.  When I actually saw horse, he was so poor that I would not get on him!  That was before I started asking more specific questions.

I've found, when selling horses, that serious buyers/riders usually bring their own saddle.  A saddle is such a personal item.

So how should I word my next ad? something like.."Leave me the hell alone, unless you are a qualified endurance rider that wants a horse that only can go about 35 miles max, and slowly, but prefers the arena. I will not be interested in your drippy nosed children, or anyone with osteoporosis and broken bone injuries, bring your own saddle, and learn how to mount before you get here, get your own trailer, no you can't borrow her, you have to pay cash, don't ask too many questions, don't annoy me and look at the damn picture if you want to know if she is white."

Boy, that sure is tempting, isn't it?  But you know you can't actually do that.  I've been there, too.  Probably word of mouth will be your best bet in selling your horse.

Best of luck.
