      Funny about you saying that it might be flies...Our Mare "Ima
Liberated Lady" will break out in hives with "Larry's All Natural Fly Spray."
 She is so effected with this stuff that even if she is down wind from
someone else spraying their horse, she will break out in about 1 hour.
      So maybe it's some chemical reaction to something around the horse.  I
would think that the feed is not the source of the problem with hives.  It
also can be flies, mosquitoes, small knats, weeds, paints  or other grooming
chemicals, etc., etc.
