I guess since it still feels like WINTER here, I am not thinking in terms of
"ride season" yet!!  Definitely soak it at a ride....actually, I have used
Susan's advice (actually reading her articles in EN and on her website) and
have started adding extra soaked beet pulp plus all the hay they want 2 or 3
days before the ride to get lots of fluid and fiber going.  It works!!!  We
get great scores for hydration.  At the ride, we add cut up carrots and
apples to the mix and I think our horses keep going to the next check in
anticipation of their slop bucket!  :)  And if no one has mentioned it yet,
soaked beet pulp is also an excellent way to "hide" things you want to give
your critters.  Doesn't always work (some horses must have ESP!) but works
most of the time!!
