Actually, I'd say some rough terrain might save some horses that speed
would otherwise kill.  My biggest gripe with the really big rides is that
they want them to be spectator sports, so they hold them near centers of
civilization.  Unfortunately, civilization tends to avoid really
challenging terrain.  Maybe that was one of the secrets of success of the
ROC, It was just a traveling Gypsy camp that never seemed concerned with
stabling so they could set up where the TRAILS were instead of the so
called "audience".
