neck sweats

I was wondering if anyone can help me .Im new at endurance and Im also 
showing one of my horses, she is two young for endurance yet, only 3 , I have 
been told that her neck is to thick and I need to sweat it. I bought a neck 
sweat.  Are there any other ways to do this?
