Purebred but not registered

I'm confused. It sounds as if maybe you haven't done endurance in the
past, but you want to get one in shape to sell for a profit. Nothing
wrong with that, I've done it myself but Iit seems that maybe if you
don't know how big of a deal papers are, you may need to get to know the
sport. Starting a 13 year old is fine, but even if you "know that he
will be a competitor" he'll be 15 by the time he's ready to *really*
compete. If you're thinking *really* big, I'll warn you that I've heard
the UAE crowd wants them under 11. I'd only consider starting an
endurance horse at that age to sell for profit if he had potential to be
a good beginner's horse. Those are solid gold.

When I started my first endurance horse I remember the look on
experienced rider's faces when I told them that I *knew* my horse was
appropriate. Maybe he was, maybe he wasn't. Trouble was that I was
clueless. Two horses and a lot of miles later I found one that was right
for me and the sport... he's done pretty well for me, and he's a purebred
with no papers.
