more ?s re bone scans

So Tiffany; Do they scan the whole horse?  We scan the whole person at City of Hope. Then the film looks like tiny little skeletons.  Why do the radiology department people ask about iodine allergies? Just routine I guess. I don't know why the vet even mentioned the bone scan.  (poor vet muttering quietly under his breath within earshot of the over reactive, paranoid, nurse client) He's probably reading this. (It's therapy for me, don't take it personal) We did Xrays of the fetlock, pastern and hoof almost a month ago.  The horse is not healing, and is getting progressively worse. :=( It was a mud slip at-liberty thing.  Vet say's he sees this kind of stuff at Santa Anita. I suppose from the horses galloping around the corners, isn't it the right leg that gets it all the time?  Well, she was roaring around the turn out arena. Playing. After a rainstorm.  I thought it was the best and safest footing anywhere around here, and the horses were going nuts being cooped up in the rain.  Our usual turn out was a lake.  Anyway we already did X-rays and they are negative.  We are going to do some more this week. To see if there are changes.  There is no swelling , no heat. No tendon signs are apparent. We did blocking too. It's the fetlock.   I probablly won't do the bone scan anyway if it's just diagnostic and doesn't affect the course of therapy , because I suspect I cannot afford it. No money flying around here!   Beth
