Far be it for me to disagree with you, Kat, but I'll just tell you about my
herd. I have two geldings, and one mare. I've had the mare since she was 6
months old. She's now 4.

My three horses are inseparable. They act as one and if you saw them out in
the field together, you wouldn't believe how they move and react off of each
other. Dance Line and the mare are so bonded it's sometimes a problem for me
when I try to load Dance in the trailer, with him knowing the mare's not
coming.

I think it's cause I got her when she was so young. I kept the geldings
apart from her till she was big enough (about a year or so old). Now, if I
tried separating them I'm sure there would be Hell to pay.

Not everything is black and white. Sometimes the standard rule does not
apply. Horses are as different and individual as people. Sometimes unique
things happen. It sure has in my back yard.

cya,
Howard
