cost effective panacur purge

This only becomes cost-effective if you have multiple (like, maybe three or
four) horses, or can co-op together with some friends----but if you can,
then go to a store that sells vet supplies. You don't have to actually be a
DVM to buy *some* of the stuff in there. You can get a 1000ml/cc bottle of
fenbendazole suspension liquid for about $95. Fenbendazole is the active
ingredient in Panacur, made by the same company and everything. The label
will have detailed instructions, but a dose for a 1000-lb horse is about 23
cc, which you can squirt into their mouths using one of those 60 cc
electrolyte dosing syringes we all have lying around (or buy one from the
same store). A 1000-ml bottle will contain roughly 43 doses at $2.20/dose.
So if you double-dosed for 5 days, your cost would be about $22 for the
5-day "purge". Not bad.

It has a year or two shelf life, so if you kept it in your frig, doesn't
have to be used all at once.
