I think it depends on three things, how you are built, how you ride and
how the particular saddle is built. I've seen a lot of dressage saddles
that feel as if they are forcing my legs down, hence putting stress on
my hips. This can be uncomfortable. Some all purpose saddles push you
forward a bit. Of course that may not be all bad if you are going fast
or riding over varying terrain.

I ride an all purpose (Roe Richardson Reactor Panel) and find it very
comfortable in long stirrups or in short stirrups (I change the stirrup
length depending on the horse, the terrain and how I feel like riding
that particular part of the trail.)

So I think it is the answer is it all depends.
