The Debate Rages: Short vs. Tall

Okay, since MB called me ms. internet and I haven't posted all week.....

Just picked up a TALL Bey Shah grandson that I am turning around for sale this year.
Haven't sticked him yet, but I bet he's 16HH tall. He is just as tall as Beau, if not taller,
as a 3-yo!  And he actually has a very amenable personality and is very, very smart.
Never trailered before, but he walked right onto the trailer and unloaded calmly 3x
without any drama.  I thought it would take hours to trailer train him - took my ex
2 minutes to get him in the first time, and me 1/2 a minute to get him to load the
2nd and 3rd time.  I've only worked with him a couple of afternoons before I tried trailering
him.  He hadn't been handled a whole lot during the last couple of years, and he went
from no-touch on his hindquarters and feet to being able to touch him all over and pick
up all four feet after those few sessions.  I think it also helps a lot that he never was
in the show ring.

When I unloaded him at his new barn the other day, a famous endurance rider commented that
she had a client looking for TALL horses with endurance experience and was willing to pay
BIG BUCKS.  Another famous endurance rider said that a tall Arabian would garner top
price, also.

So if short horses are so much "better" why is it that tall horses are bigger money?
And the top money horses at the West Coast Distance Fair were Bey Shah grandsons,
and I bet they weren't short...

Okay, okay, yes I'm running a little bit of a fever and am feeling pretty obnoxious and
feisty because of it.  And I'm ready to sign off for the long weekend - so Happy New Year!
I'll return to debate on Tuesday... Flame ON!
