I tried this when I needed reading glasses.  I didn't need distance glasses, so I just used one lens.   The problem is you lose your depth perception, some people adjust, I found it very difficult and gave up on the reading lens.  So to ride I have the largest watch you have ever seen so I can do pulses and keep track of the time without glasses.  Louise,

I don't have experience with bifocals myself (yet) but I have friend whose optometrist prescribed bifocal contacts---she has the near vision in one eye and the far vision in the other eye---she says it works just fine.  Maybe this would be an option???  Claudia
