I don't know about the rest of the country, but because of competition among
airlines, casinos, and travel agencies Reno is a very cheap destination from
the Midwest.  In our modern airline system, airfares are determined by
competition not miles.   It would have cost me twice as much to fly to
Lexington KY as to Reno.
