What an original expression!

Farmers and ranchers are some kind of holy touchstones to some people. Well,
I, like all of us, come from about 500 generations of farmers, and to hear
my people tell it it had all the romance of a slaughterhouse.

Obviously we can't live without farmers. But this does not make them above
criticism.
