Barefootin'

Dear Riders,
I feel like someone who just found "religion"... honestly, a couple of weeks
ago I loaded (at someones suggestion on Ride Camp) the web pages dealing
with what's referred to as the Natural Trim or Barefoot horses. Since then,
I've acquired a copy of Dr. Sasser's book " A Lifetime of Soundness", and
spent hours pouring over the websites regarding her and Jamie Jacksons work
and research on "shoeless horses", plus subscribing to the chat line
archives of this "cult" of purists. I won't take a lot of space up touting
it here.... you are either interested or you are not, but for me... I've
pulled a bunch of shoes in the last two weeks. I examined 3 of our hard
working (adventure trail ride horses) that do probably 50 miles plus a
week..(barefoot) .... what do ya know... the perfect picture of what all the
books & internet pages discribe as a good bare foot in a working horse.
I've scheduled a clinic with Martha Olivo for December 19th here at my
place. e me if you want to attend--limited to 50 people. Mark and I are
both going to learn how to do the trims ourselves. There are some really
pertinent thoughts concerning naviculared and laminitis horses. For sure
this bears looking into if you have one of those.

Like all things... nothing is 100 per cent for 100 per cent of the horses...
but I'm convinced there is definitely something there for many of us riders
that allow our horses to live out naturally. Check it out for your horses
sake. It might change both of your lives!!!
