I 2nd the hackmore.  My favorite brand right now is called the S Hack.  Can
be found in several of the catalogs, but very seldom in tack shops.   This
one is very lite weight, short shanks so they can eat & drink in buckets
without having to remove it or it hanging up on something.  U can wrap the
lariet nose piece and/or the chain chin strap with tape/vetwrap to soften if
you desire, or leave as is for a "tuffy".   If U can't find one, send me $35
& I'll send U one.
