Marv : get over it!

Marv,

>Oh, I see. It's the old constructive-destructive criticism scenario at
play here. If you're doing it suddenly it's constructive.>

Not criticism, Marv : a reminder : debate is healthy, petulant foot-stamping
is childish and ineffective. Address the message, not the messenger and you
might find you have better reception.

>Say what you want, but your "questions" for the most part have been
confrontational and your "rebuttals" have been dismissive pronouncements.>

Please give some examples of this, so that I can consider your statement
and, if necessary, apologise.

>I must say, that you have at least gone beyond cryptic one liners and hit
and run sniping.>

I don't understand this statement at all : is it addressed to me, or to
others on the list? My one-liners are (generally) amusing - or so I'm
told - and if I snipe, I don't run : I hang around for whatever backlash is
to come.

>First off, you are in the queue behind ANYONE who *is* seeking help
(whether they accept what I say or not as long as they are seeking) and
there are a lot of them. I shouldn't even be taking time away from them to
address this respect issue that seems to have stifled a free flow of
information on this list.>

Marv, with all due respect, you posted Ridecamp with your product, made some
comments about training, gave us a link to go and investigate your methods,
and invited response. It would appear that, because the response was not
100% positive, you are now retracting the invitation. It's a bit late for
that, don't you think?

This is all terribly amusing, Marv, and has given me the opportunity to
indulge myself in some sarcasm which I was holding in abeyance in my
previous posts to you, in the vain hope that you were serious about
discussing different techniques to train horses, something I find
fascinating. It is now evident that your initial post was not an invitation
to discussion, but more along the lines of an exercise in
self-aggrandizement. This is a pity.

>Secondly, your "questions" indicate to me that you have not given my site,
where I address many, if not all, of your "questions", the most cursory of
examination. Instead, it is easier for you to suggest in a public forum
that I'm evading having to demonstrate that I cannot stand up to scrutiny by
not re-inventing the wheel in a timely fasion.>

I didn't ask you to reinvent the wheel, Marv, nor did I give you a deadline
to answer my post. However, your personal attacks and egomaniacal
suggestions that those of us unwilling to concede your superiority in all
issues equine has made me wonder just how closely you have followed my posts
to you.

>I know this sounds like I'm mad as hell. And you won't believe me when I
say I'm not.>

I don't really care whether you are mad or not : I'm quite happy to discuss
this issue with you no matter what your emotional state is, as long as you
demonstrate some ability to stick to the issues at hand and not resort to
petulance. Personally, I'm in a state of mild amusement at the moment.
This will no doubt be followed by mild irritation at some of the flaming I
will, no doubt, receive for responding to your post in kind, but I'm fairly
certain I'll settle down into extreme indifference fairly quickly. A good
ride on one of my "unbonded" horses should restore my good mood fairly
quickly.

>Those who have seen me around the Internet certainly know I am no stranger
to the treatment contrarians get and I have received much worse than this
and still slept.>

Then why the need for the pissing contest?

>The only reason I'm even addressing this tripe to the point I am is in
hopes that some of you (according to some very nice people I've heard from
about this matter) might realize that you are denying many of those the
opportunity to experience the full value of this resource.>

No, I am not. I am inviting you to discuss this matter, to explain some of
your statements, and to do so in an adult fashion. I went private as it was
becoming boring and repetitive because you have failed to address my
questions. I am now going public because, frankly, your post deserves it.

>This is the last of my posts regarding any animosity or similar
discourtesies to me, either real or imagined. I reserve the right to point
these slights out when I observe them aimed at others.>

People on RC are generally pretty good at looking after themselves, Marv,
but if you feel the need, go ahead.

>If you want to learn and teach, do that, dump the other crap.>

And what crap would that be, precisely, Marv? Disagreeing with you perhaps?

Tracey
