This is not even taking into account the HORSE! It angers me to wait and wait
and wait with a horse who SHOULD be checked at an appropriate time - and at
times I have seen horses who appeared to need some intervention - whilst the
"real" riders - 50s, 100s, whoever they are - push ahead infront of many of
us bringing a horse back from injury, takign a young horse on their first
ride - or worse still, taking a child on their first LD. What a wonderful
lesson for a child to learn - that here in endurance, if you are 'important
enough, you DON'T have to wait your turn politely. My daughter has also
learned now to assert herself - she watched US! You see, kiddies, everyone
has to wait their turn in line, unless your horse needs immediate medical
attention. That is polite, fair and safe. Then parents of little riders won't
have to explain to their progeny why some ADULTS get to behave rudely when
THEY - the children - are being taught to behave differently. Thanks to some
forward thinking and attentive RMs the last couple of seasons, there is
beginning to be more concern for this situation.

I should have known better than to try to limit my comment about this.
I FIRMLY BELIEVE THAT EVERYONE SHOULD BE TREATED EQUALLY
AT VET CHECKS. I do not believe that 50's deserve more consideration
than 25's nor do I think that 100's deserve to go in front of 50's who
have been waiting their turn, either. If some 100-milers get extra
consideration then they have been given an unfair advantage over other
100 milers - and the 50's and 25's that they pushed aside are at an
advantage to others in their ride that did not get that bad treatment.
That was the point of my post. And yes, ride management should have
enough vets to handle the crowd at its worst.

I've heard a lot of whining about less relevant subjects on this forum!
