Re: RC: Martingales - gimmick?

Hi Lif
Something is going on with your service because my email never reached
ridecamp as it was addressed to you. I'm trying again, this time
addressed to ridecamp so that you can hopefully get it this time.
Hi Lif
Perhaps because Sheila is taking a well trained horse out on a pleasure
ride in the pics you've seen. I said she uses it as a training tool---
not as a piece of required equipment. I imagine both Sheila and Val, who
are both
excellent horsewomen, know how and when to use tools. My point is just
that, used properly, a running martingale can be a tool. I believe
someone already put it very succinctly "one man's gimmick is another
man's tool" and I would add vice versa. Why are some so intent here on
proving they have the only way, the only method, the only truth? I
haven't seen anyone walk on water around here for a while. <BG> If we
are so insecure that we feel we have to push our methods down everyone
else's throats--- where does that leave us? Certainly not with open
minds to try something new to us that may work, or something previously
used by us that didn't work for us but did, used in a different way or
on a different type of horse/situation (they all have different
personalities and needs--- we all have agreed on that) worked great!
I think Hugh Prather in his book "Notes to Myself" (OK, so I know you
are supposed to underline book titles but I can't figure out how to do
that on Netscape Messenger) put it best when he said "Next time I will..
From now on I will... I will never... I will always.. What makes me
think I am smarter today then I will be tomorrow?"
Love it!!!
Bette (Guess my 70's Flower Child background is showing) PEACE!
