RE: Re: trailering with SUV

I have a Mercury Moutaineer 8 Cyl. All Wheel Drive SUV (looks like a Ford
Explorer) which will tow 6500 lbs. I pull a 2 horse Featherlite w/dressing
room (weighs 2400 lbs. unloaded). I have had no problems towing with it.
On windy days I do have to be vigilant about steering because of the short
wheel base, but otherwise have been very happy with the arrangement.
Although, I wouldn't want to tow two heavy horses on it in hilly country.
With only one horse on and all my camping gear it does fine on hills.

They sure do it in Europe...... with the price of fuel over $4.00/gallon
they have to....I got a kick out of seeing so many SUV's AND cars
pulling small 2-horse trailers. I took a bunch of photos of them...go
