Re: Quarter/Arabs in endurance

My retired guy is appendix on top (sire) and arab on the bottom (dam's
side). We never did tons of miles together, and although I love him to
death, his conformation is sortof put together by committee. But he's still
a good horse, I think the best of both worlds, very smart, very loyal horse.
I never had any problems with recovery, he recovered as fast as any of the
full arabs, and had bigger bone and feet than most purebreds. His sire was
Art's Vandy, who did several rides, including the Bighorn 100, and his CMK
dam was also the dam of Judy Houle's retired horse Shatir, that top tenned
Tevis ten times. Being appendix, there was plenty of TB in there, I think I
calculated him as being half arab, 5/16 TB and 3/16 QH.

The quarter horse is pleasure bred (more throughbred in body type,) arab
stallion is Baask/Khemosabi/Ferzon bloodlines. I watched the Tevis website
closely for the status of the 2 quarter/arabs that were entered. Based on
that information both horses appeared to hold their own.
