One of the best lessons and incredible experiences I've had was riding my
mare, Candi, in the dark.  I kept looking down, and thinking, "I can't see
my knees!"  She blasted along pretty quickly, at a strong trot and took us
safely home.  She knew the trail, but more, I think she could see and sense
much more than I could.  After years of riding her, I had to give up and
really trust her.  It changed our relationship a lot.  I still count on
that experience and draw on it during spooks and PMS days.  Aren't the
horses wonderful?
