Ummmmmmmm....there *is* published research that did find an extremely strong
correlation to metabolic failures at Tevis and had nothing to do with rider
experience, speed into RF or anything else---it had to do with the relative
fat condition of the horses and the statistics were off the scale in their
"confidence level".  The study is here :

This was also the subject of the seminar I presented at the AERC nat'l
convention two years ago.  If anybody has a thin horse and got pulled at
Tevis for metabolics, you might want to read this before trying it again.

The project at Swanton next month is a next-generation study to this one
listed.
