RAT's Here Goes

I know better than to do this but here goes....

Michele commented that there were not as many Ride & Tiers in the top
ten this year as in the past. You all may recall last year's winner
Rebbeca Fiedler (Becky?) an "avid" ride and tier.

Well there were only two avowed rater's this year. Tom Johnson and Sandy
Brown. But I will share this with you:

Judy Reems has been a ride and Tie crew for over 10- years, has loaned
her horse to ride & tiers many times and may have vetted at least one of
them. Her husband Dennis Tracy has been doing Ride & Tie as long as I
have. He is lucky enough to have a "certain" reputation in ride & tie,
with not only many top tens but also the honor of being associated with
one of the earmarks of the sport. Many people who know this sport
understand the faux pas of running past your tied horse, and there is
the other one of getting on the wrong horse (or at least untying it
before you notice.) Well, one year Dennis' partner Don DeAngelo pulled
what is now known as a "DE'ANGELO" in the sport. In the heat of
competition Don forgot where he was in the sequence of riding and
tying. With Dennis out in front of him running, Don tied the horse to a
tree and took off running too! The horse was now tied behind both
runners. Luckily Don was running better than Dennis that year and was
close enough that he caught up with him quickly and they both figured it
out. I never did find out which one of them ran back. I guess it was Don
as he was the fastest and knew where the horse was.
