   When I had a horse with a fractured coffin bone, I used to dissolve the 
bute in sugared water, and then syringe it into his mouth. Eventually I 
found that he'd eat the bute/sugar solution if I let it sit and soak into 
his (extruded pelleted) feed.
   Maybe this could work for you.
