I had zip results feeding just biotin. I fed 25 mg per day for 6 months and saw no change in hoof growth rate. I then fed methionine alone for 3-4 months and saw no change. I then fed Farnam's H.B.15 and within a couple of months the TB's hoof growth rate increased significantly, went from 6 week shoeing intervals to 4-5 week intervals. Hoof quality also eventually improved as the new hoof grew downwards. Just my personal experience with a single horse. Whichever one gives you the most biotin for the price. There's lots of debate about whether the other "stuff" like zinc, methionine, etc is necessary, but the original research done at the Spanish Riding School of Vienna *only* provided biotin. So I regard anything else in there as marketing fluff, not a required or even beneficial nutrient. The most concentrated/cost effective brand I've found is Paragon Biotin Plus---theirs is 50 mg of biotin per ounce, you can cut that in half and double how long the bucket will last. The body doesn't store biotin, only utilize 15-20 mg per day, so any excess fed just ends up in the pee puddle. Biotin Plus does also contain yucca in very low doses, so just stop feeding it a week before a ride.
