That comment got cut in the middle due to poor hand-eye coordination.  The 
comparison was between the old "cowboy 'em--MAKE 'em do it even if it means 
beating them half to death" breaking school of training and the newer schools 
of horse training SUCH AS Ray Hunt (and others like him)  The comparison was 
meant to be that one school of training might consider another training 
method abusive, but that people using such a method would not consider 
themselves abusive, and often turned out some pretty well broke horses.  Had 
nothing to do with true cowboy/ranch raising and training, which also 
probably includes a whole spectrum of methods.  It was in relation to 
statements about Dave, whether or not he was abusive, even though he was a 
nice guy who loved his horse.  jeri
