Subject: Horse slaughter issue

If you will read this there is something that we can do about this in TEXAS!
Pennsylvania House Judiciary Committee has pending legislation that would
legalize shipment of horses on 3 legs to slaughter in TEXAS, Canada, &
Nebraska (also pregnant mares & foals) for human consumption overseas.
Federal legislation, "The Commercial Transportation of Horses to Slaughter
Acts" proposed regulations state that horses should bear weight on four legs.
The Equine Placement Network is asking you to send letters/phone calls to
your Pennsylvania state legislators.  This is what we can do in Texas!!!!
Pennsylvania's Governor Ridge is being mentioned as a possible
vice-presidential running mate for George Bush.  He could be YOUR next
Vice-President!!!  If he is in a higher office this type legislation could be
passed for the whole USA and not just PA.
Why don't you get busy and let your policital representatives and expecially
George Bush know that the horsemen of Texas are not pleased about this
pending legislation in PA and Texans certainly do not want Governor Ridge for
our Vice-President!!!  If you're a Bush supporter, sorry, but maybe it will
help PA change this cruel transportation of the animals we love.
Dr. Stocks told me about going to the Ft. Worth Stock Yards one time when
they had a lot of animals there to be slaughtered as horsemeat going to
Europe.  He stated he was never interested in eating horsemeat but seeing the
sick & injured horses there turned his stomach. These animals have had to go
through the cruelty of being transported instead of being put to sleep.
Transportation is apparently another nightmare.  For more detailed
