Re: RC: Re: Breeds

We've got Froggie, 27 yrs old, 3/4 Arab, 1/4 Welsh, who did some NATRC & endurance in his youth before breaking his navicular, is a wonderful schooling horse, voice trained (boy, has that saved the day on occasion!)  BUT he really dislikes small children & dogs.  He'd charge at  both with his ears back & teeth ready to kill.  We got him when he was 3 1/2 & he has only recently, with his advanced age, mellowed out - now he'll mosey at his victims instead of charge.

I don't think Froggie's behavior is a reflection on breeding or bloodlines, it's a preference, a learned behavior that should have never been started.  Froggie may be a "bad" horse in this way, however for every "bad" representative of a breed, there's a "good" one to balance the picture.  I think if *most* horses of a breed acted in a certain way, then you could point fingers at the breed, otherwise, it's just individuals (or even families).  Lif
