When we went looking, we found that the bed's payload
was vastly increased with a dually.  If you are going
to be pulling a gooseneck, this makes a difference. 
If you are pulling a tag-a-long trailer, then the
dually didn't seem to affect the total towing
capacity.

I have to use my truck as a commuting vehicle as well
as for towing.  At the time, I parked in the inner
city in a parking garage.  I would have NEVER it into
a space with a dually.  As it is, I had a choice of
two spaces that I fit into since I got the 3/4 ton
crew cab & full length bed.  Lastly, I found that the
turn radius was a little poorer with a dually vs
standard axle.
