warner springs rudeness

debbie ekhaml dekarab
FIRST, I WANT TO THANK TERRY FOR AN EXCELLENT RIDE! EVERYTHING WAS TOP NOTCH AS USUAL FOR HER RIDES. HOWEVER, I TOO WAS ALMOST RUN OVER BY SEVERAL RIDERS AT THE FIRST STREAM CROSSING. WE HAD BEEN ON THE SINGLE TRACK WITH NO WHERE TO PASS AND I HAD YELLED I WOULD LET THEM BY WHEN POSSIBLE. AT THE BOTTOM OF THE ROCKY SWITCHBACK THEY CAME RIGHT ON TOP OF ME CAUSING MY HORSE TO KICK AND ME TO BE THROWN FORWARD AND LOSE MY SHOE. NOT ONE OF THE FIVE STOPPED, APOLOGIZED, OR EVEN ASKED IF I WAS OK. ONLY PAT HEALY DID STOP UNTIL I GOT MY SHOE BACK ON. I KNEW HE WANTED TO GO, BUT HE SHOWED GREAT SPORTMANSHIP AND UNSELFISHNESS IN DOING THIS (THANK YOU, PAT!) I WANT TO SAY I AM NOT A SLOWER RIDER (NEVER WORSE THAN 13TH AND 2 TOP TEN IN 7 LD'S)BUT I DON'T RUN MY HORSE DOWNHILL OR IN ROCKS. THE TYPE OF RUDENESS COMPLAINTS I'VE BEEN READING ABOUT SCREAM UNSPORTSMANLIKE CONDUCT TO ME. I WISH I COULD HAVE GOTTEN THOSE RIDERS NUMBERS. THERE IS NO EXCUSE TO BE RIDING LIKE THIS IN THE FIRST 5 MILES!! OR RACING IN AT A CRITERIA FINISH; IT'S A LD FOR PETES SAKE! PEOPLE WAKE UP! YOU CAN BE COMPETITIVE WITHOUT BEING RUDE! ONE OF THE BEST SAYINGS I'VE READ; RIDE LIKE YOU KNOW YOUR HORSE, FINISH LIKE YOU LOVE HIM! MAY I ADD,RIDE THE WHOLE RIDE LIKE YOU LOVE HIM.
