I don't think it is anywhere near that high in this sport, although I'm sure 
it is in the population at large.  I've seen far too many heartbreaks with 
riders who have expended three or four years of time, effort, study, etc., 
have done everything as "right" as they can, and the horse simply has no more 
to give...  There are a great many "nice" horses out there that would make 
nice trail horses and companions but simply are not cut out for 
endurance--beyond perhaps completing an occasional ride.
