Absolutely you can buy clothes, shoes, etc. out of a catalog...you're at an
advantage if you know the product that you are buying. If it's something
that you are not knowledgeable about, you can either take your chances and
return them if you are not satisfied or you can reserve those times for
buying them "off the rack". I know a lot stuff I like by brand name, but
that's after several trials -- and some errors! ;-) I can usually get a
much better price from a catalog. If they charge for shipping, I weigh the
difference between that charge and the high sales tax in Washington -- plus
the cost of my time and gas to get it. BTW, I've done enough shopping in
the tack shops and co-ops around here that they all know me by name (much
to my husband's chagrin <g>) -- I'm not always johnny-on-the-spot to get
whatever I need ordered in good time...and besides...tack shops are fun.
;-) If I'm not in a hurry for an item, no matter what kind of item, I
definitely try to order from a catalog and get the best price available.
