Another LD vet check question

Annette Jacobs wildpony@san.rr.com
Hello-
Last year I was in a 25 mile LD & when I got to the vet check I
knew my horse was already down. (I had gotten off & walked him
in). I was planning on spending lots of time at the mid-check,
letting my 1st ride - 4 year old stay relaxed.

The VERY NICE helpers took his PR & urged me to go to the Vet
ASAP. I tried to explain that I was not in a hurry, but they
really seemed to think I should get to it.

Question: If you are planning on a 5 hour 25 mile ride, is there
any reason to rush into the midway vetting? I still have not
figured out what was so urgent. Am I missing something? Maybe
the helpers were more eager then I. They really wanted to help
any way they could.

Thanks
Annette
