Steve did say that following the ride meeting there would be a demonstration
and instruction on taking a pulse for anyone who needed help.  He also said
that there would be stethoscopes available at the VC for use.  I did not
notice if anyone attended the demo.

I personally did not find his attitude at all demeaning towards the LD
riders.  I think he was just stressing how important it is to be able to do
this task yourself and did offer to educate.

As for taking saddles off at a 30 minute hold, no that does not give you
allot of time. However, LD is not a race right?  Especially at this ride.
No award was given for first LD or BC so why would anyone mind taking extra
time in the VC to take care of their horse?  No one said you have to leave
camp in 30 minutes.
