When was that? Back in the 70's and 80's?
Then the oil field workers were paid well.
But they have taken pay cuts and been laid
off since then. Most of them have lost
everything they had. At least around here,
which is a lot of people. Since you are
calling me a liar, I will tell you that my
husband runs a workover rig, he has a crew
of three men working under him. He is not
only responsible for everything that goes
wrong on the rig or the job, but he is
directly responsible for the lives and
welfare of the men working under him,
since he controls the speed of the rig.
For this job and great responsibility, he
is paid $11.60 per hour. The men working
under him are paid considerable less. Most
telemarketers around here make more money
then him. We have a house that is over 60
years old and the roof leaks so bad the
ceiling is starting to fall down on us. We
can't afford to get it fix. Maybe this
next summer, with the higher oil prices
and hopefully more work, we will be able
to do that. My car that I use to get to
work is over 10 yrs old and is in
desperate need of repair. Thankfully my
husband gets to drive a company pickup,
since he has to drive close to 100 miles a
day to get to work, when they do work. I
drive 80 miles to get to work.

Believe me, I am not complaining. I am
very blessed in many other ways besides
money, but I do not think that you are in
the position to make judgments as to how
the families of the oil field workers are
living in ND!!!!
