I hang the bridle around my neck and zip it in under my coat while I tack
up.  The whole bit is nice and warm by the time I put it on the horse. :-)
Dunno about warming the crupper that way... :-p  Maybe just laying it under
the rump rug for a few minutes would warm it up nicely.
