RE: Equine dentist vs Vet?

I wouldn't even bother asking the vet. My vet's office thought
that their vets are well qualified to do dental maintenance, but
when I had the equine chiro. out, she definitely indicated that
his teeth needed work, even though they had been floated only
two months before by the vet. And this is one of the most
well-respected veterinary clinics in our area.

I guess if you visually inspect your horses teeth, you may be
able to figure it out, but I've always had someone else tell
me that my horse needed dental work. I think that there
was an article somewhere (The Whole Horse Journal?) about how
to inspect teeth.

I have to figure out myself which equine dentist to use!

Perhaps a dumb question, but ignorance is NOT bliss when it comes to
horses!

What astute questions should I be asking my vet who does all my equine
dental
work, and what are obvious signs that he is not doing a good job?

So far so good...I think....
