I personally love to hear stories and brags about what others have done--be
it breeding or riding or whatever. There isn't a thing wrong with pride.
But it's one thing to brag and clearly mark a thread with a title like "New
baby" or "We Won the Whatsit 100" or "We Survived The Whosis 25" (then one
can read or delete as one so chooses), and it's something else altogether to
relate EVERY thread to one's own horses, unless giving case studies or
specific examples. I do think the readers can discern where pride ends and
bad taste begins and draw their own conclusions--and Maria chose to share
where she thought the line had been crossed. Case in point--Maria herself
has shared her first endurance ride with us, and has told us a little about
her horses (and she is rightfully proud on both counts), but she also makes
contributions and asks questions about subjects ranging from shoes for riders
to horse trailers and manages to do so without changing the subject and
continually discussing her horses. She herself has set a very good example
of how to brag on one hand, but how to keep her focus on other subjects when
her horses are NOT the subject header.
